I LOVED LOVED LOVED this book. It was just FUN in the most unlikely way. I mean, you'd think Alexander and Logan wouldn't get along but somehow they did even when they didn't hehe. I'm not the kind of person to bet on anything and if I did I would NEVER play with SUCH high stakes but for both Logan and Alexander they were in a place they needed to prove a point not exactly to the other person but for themselves and I think this is what made them keep this bet for so long, or rather, right up until the end. So who lost? You'd need to read and see :)
Alexander Kress might have a house he loves and a job he enjoys as a art curator, but his life is rather empty. His strict and critic way he looks at the world (himself included) doesn't allow for mistakes. Which makes it hard to find a special someone for himself but not easy also in renting a room in his place to anyone he can put up with. When his brother Nico finds him a rather okay guy to rent the room to, he offers a bet, if Alexander can't handle the guy for 3 weeks he'll have to swap places with him for a year. Alexander shudders at the thought but he is willing to commit this time. How bad could this guy be?
Logan Stone is actually a great guy but when Alexander meets him he doesn't see the sweet and considerate guy he really is, he only sees the character he want to play in the theater his brother runs. The only way he thinks of showing both his brother and his ex-girlfriend he is REALLY into this role is actually BEING the guy, playing SO well he gets evicted. After all, playing the Trump supporter who hunts (and eats) possums and catches fish with his bare feet isn't exactly what Alexander had in mind. But somehow Alexander DOES see in Logan more than the act. Especially when his bet included needing to actually ACCEPT Logan's outrageous offers of "good time". It puts Alexander out of his comfort zone and makes Logan explore something in himself he hasn't really figured out yet.
Alexander and Logan's feelings towards one another with each day goes by confuses both of them. How can Alexander be attracted to THIS GUY with his right views which are everything he doesn't believe in (and would fight if he could). But there is something MORE to him, he knows it. For Logan he firstly doesn't understand just HOW can Alexander keep playing along and actually enjoy some of the time they spend together, that's without mentioning his attracting to him. He'll be the first to admit his previous relationships with women didn't really work.. But alexander of all people? and especially when he is playing this horrible role!
When Alexander figures out what's going on, he decides to play along and when Logan realizes Alexander knows and STILL keeps it up he has even more incentive to making it harder on Alexander (and on himself as well). How can their growing feelings be real when everything else is fake?
These two go through quite the journey in this one. It's a self discovery bundled up with the sweetest love story. I laughed-out-loud so many times with Logan's shenanigans but Alexander had the will of steel! (which was hilarious in itself).
HIGHLY RECOMMEND you give this one a go. I also recommend you try the first in this series (which isn't connected in any way though the characters from "How to Steal a Heart in 500 Kisses" do make the smallest appearance.
