House Rules by Cari Z.

Though I'm usually a BIG fan of Cari's novels this one missed the mark but that's mostly becuase it was too short and also BDSM mostly doesn't work for me. Are you into spanking? Because if the answer is yes I think you'll really enjoy this one. Thing is, there is a lot in the first part of the novella that REALLY intriged me. The life of Jon and Al seems to follow rules that are made to keep Jon healthy and safe but sadly as this was rather short what we got isn't more about the two of them but what Jon knew he'll get once Al is home - what he deserved.

Bobby Green (Johnnies #5) [Vern "Bobby" & Reg "Digger"] by Amy Lane

This was NOT what I was expecting and I'm SO sad that this one didn't work for me as much as the previous ones in the series which were AWESOME. They were not what I was expecting in a good way considering "Johnnies" is a company which makes Porn.. I just had a hard time connecting with the story or rather with Vern and Reg and from what happened until I stopped I think it won't work for me further on. 

I've read the previous installments two years ago, and though I remember I loved them, I don't remember too many things. It quite annoyed me frankly to have all those characters I remember yet I don't remember ENOUGH to feel comfortable with the setting. With Reg and Bobby, frankly I don't remember anything about them. So in a way it was like starting anew. 

Hammer & Air by Amy Lane

I didn't have patience for this one at all. The language was strange so it was difficult to read at times, our MC Eirn tells us his and his best friend Graeme story. Their lives was pretty horrible even if he just told it "as is" (I guess because that was just life for them). 

Eirn's thoughts are consumed by Graeme or as nicknamed - "Hammer", mostly on the sexual side. Up till where I got (25%) it was about 90% sex thoughts or acts with A LOT of possessiveness from Hammer's side.  This one feels more like an Erotica (PNR?) novel. I"m not even sure how old they are because as Eirn tells it, he runs a bit from past to present and he sounds a bit "childish" to me. 

Enemies like You by Joanna Chambers & Annika Martin

This is NOT what I expected this book to be. IMO the sexual tension takes WAY too much space and not only that it changed the way I saw the two characters or rather it made me sort of disconnect from them. They are both playing with fire with their attraction towards each other but mostly it feels somehow immature the way their sexual desire makes them act against their projective which means THE WORLD to both of them, each for his own reasons.

Enemies with Benefits - Prologue by Joanna Chambers & Annika Martin

This short novella is the first 8 chapters of "Enemies Like You". I think it's an interesting idea! When downloading it I didn't it's just that - a part of the book itself. But that's exactly what it is. It brings us the first encounter of Will and Kit. It's engaging, it's HOT and it's almost impossible to put down once you start.

Dark Soul, Volume III by Aleksandr Voinov

What can I say about the final installment.. It was as good as the previous ones were which means - AMAZING and impossible to put aside and in a way bittersweet because decisions had to be made.  
It brought Stefano into a very difficult situation with the authorities, and one particular vicious man - Sebastiano Beccaria who is actually Franco and Silvio's older brother. He might be on the different side of the law but he is a killer in his own way and getting his view totally showed that. 

Dark Soul, Volume II by Aleksandr Voinov

I don't even know where to start. As with the first one, this part was impossible to put down, even more so now that I know both Silvio and Stefano. There is something about the pace of this story, or how it keeps you on edge, not only on what would happen between these two men, but also the Russian mafia and the way they decide to deal with them. 

Dark Soul, Volume I by Aleksandr Voinov

This is NOT a light read before bed, and I'm saying that because I had nightmares about the mob last night... Glad that I don't actually remember anything but the strange and mostly frightening vibe.. I knew this book (in three parts) was dark and not only because of the name, I also saw there isn't a clear tag to the genre which fits Aleksandr. He doesn't do ordinary, or "mainstream". I don't think I would have read and enjoyed this book if it wasn't written by him. I was uncomfortable and unsure about this the whole time I was reading it, yet I couldn't put it down. It was mesmerizing in an almost intimate and kinky way. Not sure how to explain it really.

This first two chapters in this one is told from Stefano Marino's POV. He is a young mob boss trying to establish himself. He is happily married and being a part of the mob he doesn't really know what to do with his sudden extreme reaction to Silvio “the Barracuda” Spadaro, a young enforcer of one of the "big bosses" who retired a few years back (though he is still in the game at times which is how Stefano meets Silvio). 

Good Boy (Theta Alpha Gamma #4) [Brad & Sebastian] by Anne Tenino

I'm disappointed.  I mean, I KNEW where this one was going but it's not just the fact that Brad and Sebastian are s/D (now), that was half obvious to happen from the first installment in the series - "Frat Boy and Toppy" - in which we were introduced to them..It's the fact that I LIKED Sebastian before, yeah he had a little bit of a mean streak to him, but I thought it funny at the time, as he's being sarcastic, now I realize I just don't like him as a person and so him getting a HEA with a guy I actually DO really like - Brad - made their whole relationship turn sour in my mouth. 

Black John (Johnnies #4) [John & Galen] by Amy Lane

While I wasn't sure which of the previous ones was my favorite NOW I can finally say THIS one is! I have to say John never made a good impression on me. I mean, it's not about him building a porn company, it's what he did to screw everything up or rather snort it up his nose while forgetting everyone around him including the man he proclaimed to be in love with - Dex. Yet getting his side of the story which is NEVER about diminishing guilt was very enlightening. He had a very long journey to go to become a whole man, seeing himself and his WORTH and not just self accusing of all the things he done wrong or failed to achieve. 

Ethan in Gold (Johnnies #3) [Evan "Ethan" & Jonah] by Amy Lane

A hell of an emotional ride but SO worth it. I LOVE Ethan/Evan and and Jonah is SUCH a sweet guy! They deserved each other, they both had very difficult lives for different reasons but what connected them has nothing to do with that. They meet at the Pet shop Tommy ("Tango") started working in and conversation just flowed from there. But while Ethan doesn't want more than a friend it's clear he is falling for Jonah, and Jonah, well, he is quite clear with how much he wants Ethan and nothing of the things Ethan thinks will keep him at bay works, not even the big secret - what he actually does for a living..

Dex in Blue (Johnnies #2) [David "Dex" & Carlos "Kane"] by Amy Lane

Another emotional ride, but not as crushing as the previous one in the series. I liked both Dex and Kane in the previous installment and was happy to get to know them better in this one. I gotta say, these two together are not what you would expect, Dex is a smart guy and I'm not saying Kane is stupid (I might get hit by Dex ;)) but he is "slower" and he doesn't always get social clues (such as sarcasm). Yet they are actually perfect for one another, they somehow complete each other and while a lot of "smart people" look down on "less smart people" Dex isn't like that at all, he saw Kane for who he really is and appreciated his good qualities, dismissing his "bad" ones.. 

Chase in Shadow (Johnnies #1) [Chase "Chance" & Tommy "Tango"] by Amy Lane

This book was SUCH a ride, an emotional one. I think a year ago (maybe a bit more?) I wouldn't have been able to read it, too many issues would have bugged me enough to put it aside or not even giving it a chance so actually I'm really happy I've broadened my horizons and I'm able to read more genres and concepts I was uncomfortable with in the past. 

The book starts almost at the end point chronically, we get to Chase's breaking point where he realizes he can't keep on living the way he has all his life. We met Chase in the prequel of Donnie and Yandro, and even if you haven't read it (it's not necessary, it gives background information about Donnie and Chase's friendship and the forming of his relationship with Yandro) it's obvious he is so deep in the closet he can't even see there IS a closet. He has a girlfriend he lives with and plans on finishing his engineer degree and provide for her and the family they will build together. When he finds it hard to save money for a house while studying and working low pay jobs he stumbles upon a job in the Gay Porn Industry. "Johnnies" is actually a very nice company, with a great manager, who actually cares about his employees, the guys are also great, they have a lot more going on than doing porn (which will naturally be explored in the next books in the series). "Johnnies" gives Chase (known as "Chance") an opportunity to explore his true wants and needs even if only in the physical aspect. Until he meets Tommy ("Tango")..

Super Sock Man (Johnnies 0.5) [Donnie & Alejandro] by Amy Lane

Sweet romance novella. I liked it but can't say I loved it. On the one hand it was SO DAMN SWEET, on the other hand, though I loved Donnie's childish innocence it was also a bit of a "turn off" for me. I could and couldn't see was Yandro found in him. 

On the Clock (Market Garden #8) [Blake & Jason] by L.A. Witt & Aleksandr Voinov

My, my, this one was HOT! I really enjoyed the previous novels in the series but I was wondering how this one would play.. Blake, aka "Rolex", the guy who brought Tristan and Jared together, wasn't what I found appealing in their story, I only saw him there as a "side show". But I gotta say, I really enjoyed how he fell for Jason and the fact Jason was TRYING to play it cool but it became more clear as the story progressed that he sees more in Blake even though we only got Blake's POV. 

Bold (Blue Boy #3) [Kai & Matthew] by Garrett Leigh

I'm not even sure why, this one was different from the previous two installments, it was more about the romance and way (!) more emotional. There was a huge part of us getting to know the new managers of "Blue Boy" who are really awesome! (and also sweet :)) and another part about Kai getting his GED. As with the previous one, we got quite a lot of glimpses into Cam and Sonny as well as a little bit of Levi. Sonny and Levi are still at odds which put me off, I wanted to KNOW what's going on and I was left with none.

Bones (Blue Boy #2) [Cam & Sasha] by Garrett Leigh

Okay.. this was ANOTHER surprise. I was already expecting to love this one even though I was skeptical about the first mostly because of the location - a Porn Studio (?) sounds like the best place to lose a plot line ;) and yet, I loved it, then when I started reading this one and was introduced (again) to Cam in a BDSM sex scene that made no sense?! I had to re-read a few paragraphs in the first page to make sure I"m in the right place - yep I am. So what's going on? I stopped reading, went to the book's GR page and checked again the synopsis and categories this one was under - totally Contemporary. Well, lets keep on reading.. and I did. COULDN'T put it down. I did, for a long conversation with my roommate which ended in "I NEED TO RETURN TO MY BOOK". Next thing I know, it's was after 2 a.m. and I reached "The End" with a stupid smile on my face. 

Bullet (Blue Boy #1) [Levi & Sonny] by Garrett Leigh

After reading a few of Garrett's novel I started obsessively adding more books by her. When I got to this series I decided to leave it till the end not being sure I'll actually read it.. and yet when these were the last one on my list I knew that even though the subject was putting me off I HAVE to give it a try - and I'm really happy I did! :) 

The synopsis states boldly that Levy is a gay porn star, now getting a proposal he can't deny doing something he isn't sure he is able to do. Also the scene is between Dex (a VERY aggressive top) and Sonny (a guy he can't stand) and he's suppose to be somewhere in the middle.. yeah.. sounds like a total torment.. and yet, Levi needs the money badly to pay his mother's debts so he sort off doesn't have any choice..

Brazen by Cara McKenna

O-M-G this short novella was SO DIRTY! It was yet again another novella by Cara I had a distinct impression of after reading the synopsis then got a total different thing when I actually started reading it. 
While it was A LOT about the sex, there was also a very interesting heroine (the sole POV) with quite an interesting psychology behind her behavior. 

Her Best Laid Plans by Cara McKenna

Another great novella by Cara, I can't believe I have only ONE left. When I started reading this one, I wasn't sure how another Erotica novella is going to "play out" for me. I mean, I"ve been reading short Erotica novellas practically the WHOLE month, yet this one was SUCH an EXCELLENT read, I really liked both MC (though we only get Jamie's POV), really enjoyed the way it was "played", how they came closer together. I felt the whole ride with them and in the last chapter my heart was clenching with how much I wanted it to WORK, no matter how exactly. 

I'm getting ahead of myself.. though I won't write a lot about this novella because it's short and I SHOULD leave something for you to discover ;)
