This short novella was SO interesting. I was glued to it and couldn't put it down but then it ended. SO abruptly. I could see the promise of a better tomorrow if only Dis would survive today which is still something no one can be sure of.
Dis is a "Changeling" - a human stolen from the human world to become a slave in the world of the Fae. These aren't your friendly faeries, oh no, these ones are mean and cruel and their world is no different, always frozen and cold, so so cold for Dis' human body.
His days are filled with his master Sable's cruelty and his nights, when he is lucky, are filled with warm and kindness from her twin brother Marten. Though Marten would have loved to take Dis and have him on his side he is weaker than his sister so he does what he can to care for Dis anyway he can.
When the Winter Hunt comes Marten begs Dis to stay as far away from attention but when he fails Marten seems like he's even more scared than Dis and Sable have her own thoughts of what's to come.
But it's so very different than Dis expected and for that - what I expected - which basically left us with quite a huge cliffhanger of what's to come next for Dis (and Marten). Honestly if I've read this novella not knowing there is a second part I would have RAGED. But lucky for us there is a sort of second installment called Summer's Child (The second installment of Titania's Court). I'm delving right into it!
