I read this book yesterday and simply didn't want to put it down. The story flowed from one character to another, revealing more details about what's going on beneath the surface while bringing more mysteries back into the mix. I truly hope we'll get more answers (all the answers would be too much to ask, ha?) in the next installment(s).
As I've said about the previous this is NOT a romance novel, but there are elements of it in the story, this time of a formed couple we've already met in "Paradise". I strongly recommend you read and "The Academy" as the plot of Kyle Alexander continues right from the end of the last one and the other MCs are either from the previous installment or from "Paradise" - not only our "main couple" - Robbie and Wyl but also Isidore Cain who played a role in the rebellion against Garrett's father (back then the ruler of "Paradise"). Garrett took pity on the guy and moved him to another planet under the ward of Symone St. Clair (Also Ten's ward). Things changed for him, he has changed, but he has never forgotten Garrett so when he calls for help with Kyle in the maximum security prison of Redstone Isidore willingly comes to his aid.
The story is quite complex, with many characters and POVs, but getting all these angles only adds to a better understanding of the story. Redstone is not your usual prison, it's the "forgotten" kind where it's more of a "shark tank", barely supervised from the inside allowing heinous acts being done with no penalty. The Warden as well as the guards couldn't care less about the inmates and so when Kyle Alexander arrives they don't plan on playing the game differently, maybe even on the contrary.. and it doesn't matter that both his lawyer Demarcos Gyllenny and the Governor's aid Tamara Carson (Also known to us as Hummingbird, an operative of Sigurd Liang the head of The Academy) are there to oversee Kyle's (fair) treatment.
Sigurd Liang hoped Kyle would arrive at a different prison, one he has more connections in.. but alas, the Governor (Kyle's older brother) would rather bury his little brother in Redstone than let anyone near enough to examine his mind (and what's missing in the year and a half Kyle cannot remember from his childhood). His only chance are Wyl ad Robbie Sinclair but even with them there it's difficult. Wyl can't leave his dorms as the other guards expect Robbie to "share" him. Robbie needs to play his part and anyhow getting inside of the prison is a bad idea (too dangerous). Tamara might need their help but she is located in another part of the prison entirely and Isidore might be guarding Kyle with everything he's got but he is still on the inside with no way of connecting with Robbie/Wyl/Tamara. A big mess!
There's a lot of suspense and action in this one. Especially near the end and though there's a positive accord at the very end there is a HUGE question left unanswered about Robbie as well as what's going to happen next for ALL of them. This was just a book about the "grand escape" there is still a lot of story to be told and I CAN'T WAIT to get more of it - all of it - in the next installment(s).

ABOUT THIS SERIES
Bonded Universe is mostly a free online by Cari Z.
It's hard for me to categorize this series. Three out of seven are for
sure Sci-Fi MM Romance but the next ones are more of Suspense /
Adventure / Journey.
Though I'm NOT a Sci-Fi reader I AM a Cari Z. Reader ;) Which is why I gave these a go. The first ones I read I needed time to get used to the world and the futuristic feel of it all but once I got into it, I realized I simply ADORE this series and truly can't wait for more! and there's GOT to be more as there is at least two things left unfinished (in Redstone).
The series starts following Garrett and Jonah from when they met on their way to the remote planet of Pandora. From there it was obvious they are not going to stay apart no matter the complications. These two are the MCs in the first two books in the series.
The 3rd book is totally independent and also the only PUBLISHED book in this "series". It's the story of Jason and Ferran (an alien) finding a life together in the alien planet Ferran grew up in.
From there the series goes into a bit of a different direction. The first three were absolutely romance novels, but the next 3 are more on suspense of a sort of journey/adventure to dealing with the corruption of the current Federation regime. In these books A LOT of characters, side characters as well as main ones from the previous 3 books takes a more prominent stance. All of them together with the next generation (Jonah's son Cody as well as Jason and Ferran's adopted son) playing a role in making things RIGHT for ALL the occupants of the Federation.
[ I'm organizing the books by date of publication, what makes sense to me. There is no "real" Bonded Universe series, I'm making it so it's easier for other people to understand the timeline / order of the series. ]
* First published in two parts "Opening Worlds" & "Changing Worlds" in 2011-2012.
** There was another story of Robbie and Wyl uploaded to a writing site before all of these. But sadly I simply couldn't find it.. Maybe Cari would bring it back someday..
