It's been more than 2 years since I've read the first two installments in this series but I'm SO HAPPY Charlie decided to gift us with this installment. Charlie DID remind us a bit of what's going on or has been going on so if you're like me, don't worry about it. Also we get to see the two other couples together which more than a reminder was also quite the treat.
Ezra have been one of Kind Khalon trusted advisors. He is a healer and a voice of the "Soldati Eye" giving him special abilities including seeing into the future. But like all Soldati he IS also a warrior even if he likes his scholar life. He find the relationships his friends around him found quite intriguing but he doesn't see himself in one. Though he can't hold off his fascination of Segreti the Orso (Bear) General. Segreti had a role in the last installment helping not only his own realm but also Raynar (and Toka) and what he asked for in return in to retire in peace from him station as the General of the Orso armies. He has had enough.
Segreti likes the quiet life in the Soldati kingdom though if he's honest his biggest interest is in the absent minded Ezra. He doesn't know what he has to offer, big menacing body covered in scars but Ezra doesn't seem to see any of that when he looks at him. He sees a warrior with a courageous and honest heart. It doesn't take long for both shifters to realize they share a mutual interest even if both are quite surprised by the whole notion of having a mate - and especially each other.
Yet these are difficult times, the Summer Solstice Festival is planned for the next weekend - a full moon - when the Soldati King is most vulnerable due to the pact he made with his goddess allowing him to keep his prince. It's time to flush out the Orso traitors who wants to continue their last king's intentions and be rid of the human would as well as the Soldati protecting them.
Everyone does their best to uncover what's going on but throughout the mystery there is the sweet heartfelt story of Ezra and Segreti - not such an unlikely couple once you get to know them.
Charlie gifted her Newsletter subscribers with a bonus free novella - Sansone and Fausti - taking place after the events of this novella. We could see there is a mutual interest between these two - Fausti the Orso soldier (a close friend to Segreti) and the foxling Sansone who's brother Seraphim was kidnapped. It's time to give each other a chance. Fausti was more than ready, even if he had his sad story (which is also his reasoning for hating their previous Orso king) but seeing Sansone made him realize he wants another chance at his own HEA. Sansone took a bit of time but he agreed once he let himself believe.

ABOUT THIS SERIES
Soldati Hearts is a Paranormal Romance series by Charlie Cochet. It's a beautifully crafted parallel world of shifters. The main focus is on the Soldati - Tiger shifters but there are foxes and bears as well who play in important role. The stories are all rather short ~130 pages but for me each one feels like a whole story, a sweet and endearing one with plots to out thrown the Soldati King which seem to never end. LOVE IT!
