This was a fun read! Heidi and Castro are perfect together. They are both a force to be reckoned with. Each on their own and especially together. While being together, spending time together is easy for both of them, the prospect of a relationship is something both of them isn't sure about. It's not the right time for neither.
Jason Castro's previous year might have been GREAT yet it finished horribly so from an "Overnight Sensation" he became someone who isn't sure about his future in the team. Yet he is willing to put up a fight to be a better player so he can keep playing the game he loves so much. Jason is known for being easy going, especially when the ladies are concerned, but his reasoning isn't just about having fun it's him not being ready to put his heart on the line after losing his ex-girlfriend in a car accident a few years ago. So when he sees the HOT intern - Heidi Pepper - or as everyone calls her - Hot Pepper - he wants a fun night but nothing more, he's just not sure about doing it with someone he sort of works with..
Heidi Pepper is enjoying her internship with the "Brooklyn Bruisers" she LOVES her boss Rebecca and hopes that now she is becoming the "Big Boss" she will have an opportunity to take her previous job. Yet just as she can envision her new exciting position her father - the League's Commissioner - decides to teach her a lesson for not returning back to college to finish her last year - he makes her work ALL the most basic jobs on the team so she can learn how "the other half" lives. Heidi is hard working, though most jobs are physically demanding and some of her co-workers or temporary bosses are A-Holes, she manages because she can see what she wants in front of her eyes. But what her father mostly made her realize is - she doesn't want to be under his thumb anymore so she moves out of his luxury apartment. Problem is she has very little money so somehow she finds herself staying on Castro and Silas' couch.
While Castro is great about Heidi staying with him and Silas, I think Silas was actually more friendly and into helping Heidi. That's actually an issue I had with Castro at the start. He was a bit too self centered. Heidi NEEDED a friend and he was focused about himself and how uncomfortable he is with her around with his attraction to her. Heidi is also attracted to Castro. She sees in him exactly what she wants in a man, she is willing to accept a one-night-stand but he is still not sure about it, and she isn't sure how to seduce him.
Silas had a great idea for Heidi to make a bit more cash on the side. Heidi grabs his idea with both hands and makes a real business out of it. It's amazing how resourceful she is! There is literally nothing she can't do. Castro isn't the only one who says she can rule the world. YES SHE CAN. But still she wants the job on the team as Rebecca's replacement and it's not really working for her when she has ANOTHER fight with her father in which he delays his "punishment" for her for a longer period of time.
In the meanwhile Castro and Heidi becomes friends and somehow along the way they also share an amazing night together. That's when it becomes awkward and not because it's difficult to spend time together now after they've "done the deed", it's because they both want more even if they agreed it won't be.
I enjoyed seeing Heidi and Castro becoming friends, and getting attached to one another. As Castro have said, Heidi is bossy when she is clothed but once she isn't it's time for Castro to take control and besides that they enjoy bickering and arguing with one another. It's their "thing". Though it took Castro a bit more time than Heidi (to see her as his friend) he does at last and from there it was beautiful to see their friendship and how they helped one another and been there. Even if it's just making him his sandwich before a game or telling her father how great she is at everything she does even if it's "unskilled job".
There's more to this book but I'll stop here. It was truly great spending more time with the team. I"d LOVE to get Silas' story, I guess he's next? maybe? I"m quite sad about Bayer (thought maybe he will get a book too?). But it wasn't just about the guys, Georgia and Rebecca were great fun as well :)
Yep! Recommended!

ABOUT THIS SERIES
Once upon a time Sarina Bowen built one hell of an imaginary College, it has been a true pleasure graduating with wonderful new couples in the Ivy Years, but the guys (and gals) have graduated though they never stopped playing their favorite sports - Hockey. So when we met the all grown up Trevi he is now a new player in the "Brooklyn Bruisers" NHL team. The series continues to follow the other members of the team (old and new) and it's an absolute SUPERB, fun, sexy and engaging series.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
