Waiting for Clark by Annabeth Albert

Fun novella! Loved both Clark and Bryce. I have my favorite turfs for sure - friends to lovers, slow burn and if I can get an epic love story spanning years (even decades if I'm lucky) even better! In a way I got all three in this one even if it was short. Bryce and Clark met in college, spend a few years together as best friends before Clark got a scholarship and left Bryce behind. It's not like Bryce could have gone with him since his father was ill ad needed him. Besides, Clark would have never asked Bryce to come or make a long distance relationship. Though they were close, neither of them was brave enough to admit - 'I love you', not even a 'please don't go'.

Bryce Weyland is in a good place. He owns a huge house where his misplaced friends sometimes live, a new business which starts to bring profit. Looking around considering all he has, he SHOULD be happy but truth be told he is quite miserable even if he won't admit it. His life might be eventful but at the end of the day he feels alone.

Clark Kenmore knows he did some mistakes and though the past can't be changed, he is now back to stay in Portland. Dressing like superhero to help out his good friends from college at a booth in a Comic Con is a start considering it's Bryce's booth publicizing his bar - "Gotham Coin". Though Bryce isn't happy to see him he still sees SOMETHING in his eyes allowing him to hope they could at least fix their friendship even if he can't have what he truly wants - Bryce's heart.

These two missed each other so much it hurt to read the care, love and understanding between them. I don't think anyone can hope for anything more than what these two share, how they TRULY know each other, could read each other -  the faces they make, their reactions. That's what so beautiful - for me - in friends (best friends really) to lovers. The progression of the relationship is somehow always more special when you  know the person in front of you so thoroughly. At least, that's how I see it :)

This short novella was extremely sweet! I got it a while back as a free read (as it was part of an Anthologies from the M/M Romance Group on GoodRead) now, slightly revised, it's offered on Amazon.
