Touch the Dark (Cassandra Palmer #1) by Karen Chance

This book is impossible to read. After 24% I realized that very little actually happened and I'm totally and absolutely LOST with all the details of the past and present BESIDES the actual plot. I was bored out of my mind when I wasn't confused or lost. The little that DID interest me just didn't move along. There was WAY too much information about the world and mainly about Cassie's past and yet when something happened it was full of action and gory. Not that I mind about that, my issue was the action was SO confusing I had to re-read most of it and still not know who the author was referring to. I wanted this book (and series) to be awesome but sadly I'm letting this one go right here.

What this one is about? I don't know enough to say.. what I can is Cassie is running from Tony after years of living with him as a sort of prisoner. She is a human and a clairvoyant who can See the future (the gory one) and talk to ghosts and he is a very strong Vampire who wants the use of her unique abilities. Now she is at the hand of the vampire council who tries to determine what to do with her. That's where I stopped.

The characters sounded interesting and quite colorful but there were WAY too many of them for me to remember who is who. There are a lot of references to real past characters (like Vlad Darcul's brother, Jack the reaper etc.) and I was at a lost of that as well, not knowing many of them. TOO MANY DETAILS. Too little actual current plot.

Enough!

  1. Yikes! Too much character introduction at the start of the story definitely makes things confusing! Sounds like your time is better spent elsewhere.

    1. Thank you for your comment :)
Yeah, I'm anyhow the kind who gets confused with TOO many details though I pride myself at reading A Song of Ice and Fire ;) After reading a few more reviews on GR I realize more people were annoyed about the same thing..
