Raising The Stakes by Amy Lane

I want to blame my mood for the fact I didn't really like this one, but truthfully, I think it has nothing to do with it, I just didn't like the interaction between the two MC - Quentin and Jace. They have been working partners and Poker partners for years but only recently started a sexual relationship.

After or rather DURING a not so closeted sexual encounter in the office they somehow "put themselves out there" and express with no romantic words that this is it - them being together is a thing, a relationship, a bet they feel safe making.

It was really short but unlike the previous one which I felt like I didn't get anything that was going on there, here the side characters were a nice add, mostly Quentin's secretary. Yet still, since I didn't like the way the "relationship progressed" (if you could say that about a 22 pages novella..) it left me feeling unsatisfied. I wish it was more "romantic" I guess.

Note - This short novella is actually a part of a full length novel called "Gambling Men", considering my review of this one it took my long enough to delve into it and I was VERY pleasantly surprised by it. I LOVED Quent and Jace together. It was a sweet friends to lovers novel with a lot of Poker inuendoes and hot sex, but if you put these things aside you get an endearing love story I really enjoyed.
