The Darkest Touch (Lords of the Underworld #11) [Torin & Keeley] by Gena Showalter

I wanted to enjoy this one as much as I did the other books in the series. But after struggling like crazy through the first 9% of the book I decided to let it go. I might return to it when the next installment is out, but I'm not sure if I will (continue the series).

The Darkest Facts (Lords of the Underworld Companion) by Gena Showalter

This is an awesome idea. Really happy I got my hand on it. You know how it is with these kind of Paranormal Series, after a while you kinda forgot what was "that guy's" problem, or who was his love interest, or maybe what was his special ability / curse etc. After ten (and more) books it meshes in together, especially as most of us read more that one Paranormal series and all the characters get mixed up in our head... So having this guild helps put order in our head especially when there's a new book out and you want to remind yourself of some details before or during a read (that was probably a year away from the previous one).

Burning Dawn (Angels of the Dark #3) [Thane & Elin] by Gena Showalter

This Saturday I actually did nothing special except for reading this book. It's been a while since I allowed myself to shut myself off the world and just relax this way. I swear I can do that probably most of the days of the week hehe

I really enjoyed reading this one. This series is good!! Different than the Lords of the Underworld and yet we get to meet some of the warriors and their women. The setting and the feel of the world itself is in a way the same yet the fact that a lot happens in the heavens and depends on higher beings makes the feel of the series different somehow.

Beauty Awakened (Angels of the Dark #2) [Koldo & Nicola] by Gena Showalter

So here is the review of the second book in the series. I've really enjoyed reading this one (and the previous one), I think this series is going to be great! As I wrote in the first one, it's more innocent sex-wise, I mean, in this book and the previous both main characters are virgins and the sex comes in quite "late" in the game and it's not explicit. So I think it can be suitable to a bigger span of readers.

That being said, The book does deal with rough situations I nearly cried just reading the Prologue! (and did infact shed a few tears later on) Koldo's story is heartbreaking, and it's clear that as much as Nicola needs him, HE needs HER even more. He is tormented by his past, what both his parents did to him. His mother was an angel but his father, well, I won't spoiler, I'll just say his kind are considered the "good guys" in any sense of the way.. In the previous book we've learnt that the woman who cut off his wings was in fact his own mother which no matter what we find out about her, I hated her with a vengeance, his father is no better but you know what, in a way he IS better, when someone is wicked that's who he is (especially in these kinds of books when you can categories good vs. evil quite easily by species), but her? I don't buy her "excuses" for being THAT cruel.

Wicked Nights (Angels of the Dark #1) [Zacharel & Annabelle] by Gena Showalter

I found about this series kinda by mistake. I don't really remember how it happened I just remember I was looking at Gena's website and looking for the next books in the series and on which character they are going to be and then I found it! I just finished "The Darkest Secret" (Amun and Haidee's book) and I just fell in love with  Zacharel. Yeah, he's a guy that grows on you, not the one you fell for the second he lands in a room wings spread but well, what can I say, I guess a smoldering hot angel who behaves badly and therefore walks around with snow falling on top of his wings seems to be specifically my type! I'm really not to blame!

I should say that if you haven't read the "Lords of the Underworld" series it really doesn't matter. The warriors appear in two scenes in the book and if you don't know who they are you'll still get it (there's a small explanation that I think covers the important).

The Darkest Craving (Lords of the Underworld #10) [Kane & Josephina] by Gena Showalter

I can't believe I'm "here", finally finished all 10 books published in the series (including 3 short novellas). It certainly been a hell of a ride, a ride I loved, I admit I'm a bit overdosed with the Lords at the moment but I'm also really happy I was recommended to read this excellent series!
I admit my "go to" Paranormal Romance includes Vampires as the main, well, paranormal :) this one has probably been the first long series that has nothing to do with vampires (besides the fact that William screwed a few of those ;))

The Darkest Seduction (Lords of the Underworld #9) [Paris & Seinna] by Gena Showalter

ho, wow, firstly this book felt like a total compensation for the last one I hated :D
Secondly this book was totally and absolutely a PLEASURE to read.
while the other one took me a week of struggle this one took me two days. first day I only stopped because I had to go out with a friend (don't you hate it when real life interrupts your fictional one? ;)) and the second day I literally did nothing but read and since this is the longest book in the series (little more than 500 pages) it means I did absolutely NOTHING but read.

This being said I can go on and talk about the book :)

The Darkest Surrender (Lords of the Underworld #8) [Strider & Kaia] by Gena Showalter

This one was a torture.. most of 435 pages of torture.. probably except for the side POVs which I'll get to later on.

That being said, if you read my previous reviews of the series then you know I LOVE it and gave most of them 5 stars reviews. I"m really bummed that I didn't like this one, but I guess it was pretty clear I wouldn't like it because of my obvious dislike for Strider. though sometimes we have a character who is simply "misunderstood" and you end up cheering for the last character you thought you'll cheer. well, wasn't like that for me on this one..

I'm sorry but most of the review is going to be a slaughter house for the book and it's characters.. I still love the setting, the Lords and the writing itself so I'll try to sweeten up the pill with a few favorite quotes in the end

The Darkest Secret (Lords of the Underworld #7) [Amun & Haidee] by Gena Showalter

I can't believe this is the last book for 2013! YAY :) But I"m happy that this is the last taste of the year. I LOVED this book. It was built in a beautiful way. Even though we had the concept of a Warrior with "the enemy" or with someone they suppose to hate or mistrust, this book was somehow different because of the way both Amun and Haidee were presented and the way they learned who the other person are.

The Darkest Lie (Lords of the Underworld #6) [Gideon & Scarlet] by Gena Showalter

OK, wow! after the previous book I was really hoping it's not a beginning of a downfall, also considering each book is longer then the previous. This book was pretty long! but I read it in less than three days. It was packed with a lot of action and sub plots.

Main plot is Gideon, keeper of Lies finds he can't keep himself apart from Scarlet, Keeper of Nightmares, the one he wished (in the previous book) he could meet (even though he didn't know she actually existed..) and after she is captured by the Lords he is surprised that as it seems she is his long lost wife. The one he didn't know he had or couldn't even recall meeting.. Though looking at her the first time he is shocked that her eyes and lips had haunted him for years and so he tattooed them on his body, as well as the same tattoo she has on her lower back saying "To part is to die" surrounded by (feminine :P) flowers. Why can't he remember her? being with her? marring her? he is determined to question her until he receives his answers (prepare for a little bit of a mind fuck about that :)).

The Darkest Passion (Lords of the Underworld #5) [Aeron & Olivia] by Gena Showalter

This is the 5th book in the Lords of the Underworld series this one telling the story of the tattooed Aeron keeper of Wrath and Olivia the [Fallen] Angel.

Aeron has always been the guy who saves others, taking care of others, he was never one to show his feelings or his weaknesses. So when Olivia first "appears" meaning, when her presence is known to him he does his best to threaten her since her presence inflict pain upon Legion the she-demon who followed him when he was chained near hell and has become not only his comfort but he also considers her family, like the daughter he never had (and will never have).

Heart of Darkness: The Darkest Angel (Lords of the Underworld #4.5) [Lysander & Bianka] by Gena Showalter

This is a short novella from the Lords of the Underworld series, unlike the previous 2 novellas in the series that had no real connection to the main story, this one features a character we met in the previous book of the series - The Darkest Whisper - Bianka who is Gwen's sister and like her also a Harpy.

Lasyter is an Elite Angel which means he is exactly what you'd imagine an Elite Angel to be - Gorgeous but as boring and righteous as anyone can get - which is the exact opposite to the mischievous Bianka who is most dangerous when she gets bored. which she does when he abducts her and placed her on his cloud as a prisoner.

The Darkest Whisper (Lords of the Underworld #4) [Sabin & Gwen] by Gena Showalter

Another great book in the Lords of the Underworld series. These books just grow on me as I continue to read. I love the setting and the Lords, I loved that the Hunters are the way they are sorta like the religious fanatic kind who fail to see their own faults and the fact they choose to believe whatever they are taught to believe. Galen did a beautiful job there. I wonder how he can manipulate them to thinking he's an angel and not possessed by a demon. Doesn't he have the tattoo like the rest of them?

The Darkest Prison (Lords of the Underworld #3.5) [Atlas & Nike] by Gena Showalter

This is a side novella to the Lords of the Underworld Series. The Lords are mentioned very briefly but nothing specific. You shouldn't read this one if you haven't read the 3rd book since there are two spoilers  SPOILER
Aside from that I don't think it matters when you read this one. So don't feel bad postponing it for later if you're eager to keep reading the next one of Sabin.

The Darkest Pleasure (Lords of the Underworld #3) [Reyes & Danika] by Gena Showalter

There is nothing like a stormy wintery weekend to catch up on my reading. Lately I haven't been reading as frequently as before. Things keep getting in my way. But as it seems the weather and this amazing series has brought me back to myself :)

Another great book in the series. I really enjoyed this one. I admit it gets a little bit too mushy for me in the end (and I can't get why they are so eager to bring on kids into the charade - aka Maddox and Ashlyn) But all in all it's a REALLY good series. It delivers exactly what it should - Action of the Paranormal staff and extraordinary Romance with Happily Ever After.

The Darkest Kiss (Lords of the Underworld #2) [Lucien & Anya] by Gena Showalter

oh my, oh my, this one was de-li-sious! YUM YUM YUM all the way, funny and witty, full of action and a promise for more!

Anya is the goddess of Anarchy. We sorta met her on the previous book. She is the one who saved Ashlyn life (from the plague) and later on released Maddox from his curse.

From the first time she sees Lucien there's this spark she cannot ignore. Something about this serious (as in no humor serious) guy turns her on. and when he spots her at last (being transparent and not really there in their first encounters) he is SO attracted to her and can't believe she is attracted to his hideousness (his face and also part of his body is heavily scared)

The Darkest Night (Lords of the Underworld #1) [Maddox & Ashlyn] by Gena Showalter

This one is going to be a loooong review and also will contain mild spoilers (which I'll "warn" about :))

First - I loved this book! I feel like it's been a while since my last PNR series, but actually it's only been a little more than 2 months from finishing the Midnight Breed series. It seems that no matter how much I enjoy reading "regular" romance books I always find myself missing a dab of supernatural in my reading. I yearn for those manly man creatures with inhuman strength and special abilities (and disabilities ;)) that simply doesn't exist in our world.

The Darkest Fire (Lords of the Underworld #0.5) [Geryon & Kadence] by Gena Showalter

This is the first novella starting the Lords of the Underworld series.
It's been a while since I read a Paranormal Romance book and I missed it! :) There is this limit of "fun" in "regular" romance books and since I started my reading fever with Fantasy books I find it fitting that I "grew into" the PNR genre.

This is my first book by Gena Showalter and actually I"m not even sure what this series is about! :) I just got a really good recommendation on it and added it to my ever growing books to read.
