I'll admit it took me awhile to get into this one. While Owen and Quill were simply adorable together, it was still a slow burn and even before that, a slow friendship buildup. Owen might be the friendliest guy who can get along with right around anyone, yet it still took him a while to make Quill his friend as Quill was doing his best NOT to allow that to happen...

Owen Han is making it happen. Life, bucket list, living the life he SHOULD have been living. Enough of making OTHER people happy. It's time to work on his own happiness. This realization didn't come sipping a glass of wine watching the sunset in a white sand beach, it came after he overcame cancer. Which is what he is doing in Alaska volunteering for the winter. Another line in his bucket list to make his life HIS OWN.

Arctic Wild (Frozen Hearts #2) [Toby & Reuben] by Annabeth Albert

Really enjoyed this one. Though there's a big age difference between our MCs (~17 years), it was nice seeing that they both had their own struggles and though they helped each other throughout the book, they also needed time on their own, thinking and realizing what they want and need - in life and in one another. You could say (like Toby did) that Reuben was having a "midlife crisis" but if it was or wasn't, I think it was simply everything together enabling him to step out of his regular life and routine and look closely on his previous decisions and if they are still relevant to who he is or wants to be. I really appreciated that.

We've met Tobias "Toby" Kooly in the previous installment, like Griffin he too works as a tour guide for people coming to Alaska looking for an adventure or even a simple time off. Toby is easy going, knowledgeable and fun to be around. He loves his job and mostly his clients adore him back. But though he shows a sort of "care-free" attitude he is living a very complicated life. Two sisters he does his best to support financially as well as a sick father who needs constant care. He loves his family. They mean the world to him, but they are also a HUGE constant pressure he barely manages.

Arctic Sun (Frozen Hearts, #1) [Griffin & River] by Annabeth Albert

This book took me a LONG time to read, but I mostly blame myself and my lack of concentration. I was too busy physically and mentally to read. I guess this book wasn't the "right" escape for me when I'm stressed as this one is HEAVY on the angst. I'm not really complaining, I usually dig angsty books but as I was frustrated in REAL life it wasn't what I needed, though I DID feel like escaping to Alaska and seeing the beautiful views. I'm not sure I'll be all about the cold, but the sights are SURELY going to compensate!

Griffin Barrett is trying to put his life back together and it's not easy. Routine helps but it can't fix his past. He has a loving family with a business he is a part of - flying cargo but also people who are in for sight seeing while photographing the area. Being HIGHLY introverted he rather take the cargo, not the people.. but he needs to step up his game because his uncle is down with an operation and until he recovers he has at least one trip to take. His uncle is a known photographer who also adds his tips and tricks to the guests coming to these kind of trips so now it's also up to Griffin. He doesn't see himself as a big photographer, but maybe he can help a bit from his own knowledge...
