Strays (Urban Soul #2) [Nero & Lenny] by Garrett Leigh

~sigh~ oh how much I LOVE Garrett's books, besides making me HUNGRY with all the tasty food she keeps on mentioning I can't complain and clearly can't ask for more than I got in this beautiful touching story. There is something so genuine about her writing, the characters she creates that are simply a joy to read (even with all the difficulties she makes them endure before they can find their HEA).

I LOVED Misfits (the previous book in the series) and I guess I was surprised by it since it's a menage, and yet it wasn't at all about the sex, it was about the three of them finding a connection. Everyone has his own faults and seeing them together overcome the difficulties life (or rather Garrett) inflicted upon them was so touching and beautiful. This book was the same (though it's not a menge..). These two books can be read as stand alone ones, though Nero is mentioned in the previous one there isn't a lot about him (mostly because even though Cass is his best friend there is more he DOESN'T know about him than what he actually does..) and in this one we are introduced to Tom-Jake-Cass in a very easy going way, really liked that.

Immortal by Amy Lane

I'm confused.. This book was captivating in SUCH a strange way and then came the ending and frankly I don't even know how to react. I feel like quoting the kid from The Princess Bride "Jesus granda, what did you read me this thing for?". So yeah, I enjoyed this book though it's hard for me to say what made it so special. It was difficult to read, not because it wasn't interested - IT WAS! It just had the most strange language I'm surprised I even understood what anyone were saying! It was like a sort of Irish slang maybe? Yet as the story progressed I was more and more sure of my "footing" and actually got exactly what they were saying. It made sense, everything started to make more sense as the story came together, the ending finally explaining the strange magic of this world. I expected something totally different and was surprised that in the end it was simply a love story, one with a lot of pain and so much loss, of anger and frustration when dealing with pure evil yet unwilling to truly succumb to it for love should conquers all.

Christmas Kitsch by Amy Lane

Heart breakingly beautiful. This book kept me on the edge of tears for SO LONG. Rusty's POV was agonizing to read. I felt sorry for him, I hoped for him and Oliver with the blanket of love and security he thrown over Rusty was sort of a miracle. Rusty is a simple guy which also means he has "simple thoughts" or rather HONEST thoughts about everything and everybody, he doesn't have one mean bone in his body and he has the biggest heart, his love story, his sort of "coming of age" story was painful as it was beautiful.

Midnight Unbound (Midnight Breed #14.6) [Scythe & Chiara] by Lara Adrian

A fun enjoyable read in the series, really enjoyed it. Both Scythe and Chiara needed to find a "break", find each other, someone who sees them and accepts them despite their past, or rather they needed to let the past lay where it should and be able to move past it into each other's arms. It was a short novella, Had a bit of everything I guess, drama, action and steamy sex.

Madly (New York #2) by Ruthie Knox

It's been a while, a LONG while since I've read any of Ruthie's books, and it's all her fault, since I've read everything she published and so I was waiting patiently for a new release. So I was already pumped about this book, THEN I learnt that the MC in this one is no other than Nev's bigger brother from "About Last Night" which is probably my favorite book by Ruthie (and one of the first I've read by her). Keeps getting better and better without me even starting to read hehe I LOVED Winston in this one even if he was "the villain" in Nev and Cath's book. Let's just say he had his reasons and he managed to make amends with his brother (and partner). Now 5 years later it's time for him to find HIS happiness with the colorful Allie we've met in the previous installment - May's little sister.

Beneath the Stain by Amy Lane

I'm not sure what I was expecting but it wasn't this. I knew this book would be ANGST GALORE - be prepared if this is the route you wanna go. I actually enjoy these kind of books once in awhile, and I'm saying - once in awhile - because I used to be all about the angst, and not even in a romance novel, in a drama one where there's no HEA promised. I might getting more sentimental with old age needing to be reassured that it will work out in the end ;)

This is Mackey's story, it's also Mackey and Trav's finding love together but it's also the story of the Sanders brothers who made "Outbreak Monkey" the band who started with Mackey being bored, looking for something he can do with his brothers and two of their closest friends (Grant and Stevie) in the small town of Tyson. See, the Sanders brothers were dirt poor, and their mother being a single mom to four kids from four different fathers meant they had their (bad) reputation and so they had to stick together and help themselves and their mother in order to survive.

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata

My god the book hangover I'm having right now. This book was INCREDIBLE! I can't believe it took me two days to read it, I thought it would take me a while week considering how LONG it is, I was actually SCARED of starting it. I'm usually reluctant to read more 350 pages and those are mostly PNR but this one was simply IMPOSSIBLE to put down. I sat HOURS Saturday reading up until 3 a.m., then woke up cranky and kept the mood the whole day until I was home again and resumed reading maybe 10 minutes after I returned home.  4 hours later - finished the book - and truly I have no words to describe how amazing this book was. It wasn't what I was expecting on SO many levels. Perfection really. I know this book - Van and Aiden - would stay with me for a while keeping me company.

Goodbye Paradise (Hello Goodbye #1) [Josh & Caleb] by Sarina Bowen

Incredible, though really, I wasn't expecting any less from Sarina :) There's a special story behind this one, but I'll get to it later on. Joshua (Josh) and Caleb grew up in a (highly religious) cult (oddly named Paradise), which isn't the only reason their lives were miserable. But they find themselves out quicker than they expected. For Caleb it was only a matter of time, not if. But while Caleb was PLANNING it, Josh just knew he'd be thrown out one day for being useless around the farm. Well, maybe not totally useless, but slower and less capable.

Into the Fire (Night Prince #4) by Jeaniene Frost

What a JOY getting the final installment in the Night Prince series. I waited for this one SO LONG, and it was SO worth the wait! Not only that, the ending brought with it an announcement I'm also pumped about (but I'll get to that later ;)). I grabbed this book Saturday afternoon, and put my kindle aside only when I finished. ~sigh~ how I missed Vlad and Leila, and also Jeaniene writing. Getting sucked into the Night Huntress World again was everything I hoped it would be. I actually liked we didn't get more of Cat and Bones, but we DID get a lot of Ian and Mencheres.

The plot continues where we left off, frankly I didn't really remember where THAT was, but Jeaniene did a good job of reminding us the main things. First the fact that Leila is connected to Mircea - a necromancer who is also Vlad's stepson and nephew. His wife at the time, betrayed Vlad with his brother Radu. Mircea's magic backfired when he tried to harm Leila resulting in the bond they now share - if he is harmed, she feels it on her skin, and vice versa. Mostly meaning if someone killed Mircea - Leila would die, which also means no matter how much Vlad wants to kill Mircea, he can't do that before he breaks the spell.

March 2017 Reading List

February was a horrible month, I was sick, everyone around me were sick, and all in all, I had no energies to do anything including read, I do hope this month will turn for the better.
This month I have in mind a promising yet long list. First - FIVE NEW BOOKS, the 4th and last installment in the Night Prince by Jeaniene Frost, a new novella in the Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian, a re-launch for Sarina Bowen (previously published under another pen name), more of the "misfits" world in a new novel by Garrett Leigh and I can't believe there's a new one by Ruthie Knox! I've been waiting for this book for two years!
Besides that there's this LONG book by Mariana Zapata I had for last month and it's no wonder I didn't get around to reading it and 5 (!) more Amy Lanes novels.
