Floodgates by Mary Calmes

Though this one started out great, on the way it somehow stopped working for me. I loved the beginning, yet as the story progressed I drifted farther from our MC (and sole POV) - Tracy Brandt. I DID really enjoy all the side characters and Tracy's connection with his family was extremely sweet, each brother is so very different and yet when they are together they are a real team with their father spreading his love to all of them. Tracy's friends were fun, we got quite a lot of them in the beginning but later on the story focused on the danger Tracy was in and he was extracted from his daily life to draw out the villain.

Another Day With Jory (A Matter of Time #8.6) by Mary Calmes

Reading Jory's POV is also missing him, the way he always gets into trouble and how resigned yet loving Sam is about all of it. It was fun seeing the other side characters from the series - Aaron and Duncan and a little bit of Dane and Aja. Yet sadly this was reminding me of the previous short free-read because though the story was focused on Jory getting into trouble per-usual it was MAINLY, something like 90%, about the kids, the interaction with them, how they are, what they do. It's like mothers meeting at the mall. I'm NOT interested in those. I'm here about the romance which was sweet and endearing but was also shadowed by Jory and Sam's everyday's life which is now family focused or rather - kids focused.

The Fenestra Penetration by Amy Lane

This one was extremely short but it was also cute, heart warming and HOT. This very short novella was originally part of the "Foolish Encounters" Anthology but now that it's not available anymore Amy published it for free on her website.

Steve is a delivery guy. I really enjoyed his POV and the way he described his job and the things he enjoyed the most. I think I would be the same, wondering about the people I'm delivering stuff to, and enjoying their enjoyment of receiving their goods. I myself order online constantly so I totally get the pure joy of a package arriving.

The Last Kingdom (The Saxon Stories #1) by Bernard Cornwell

I was really excited about this series - this book. "The Last Kingdom" TV series is currently my absolute favorite series. I love that though there are many "negative" things happening in Uhtred's life (the MC) it's only part of what makes it, and him so realistic. Life could be glorious but it can also throw you curve balls. Uhtred grew up, become someone, fell in love, accomplish things and yet had his own failures. There are so many things that takes YEARS for Uhtred to accomplish but the persistent person that he is, he stubbornly accepts no defeat he only charges on.

The Virgin Manny (The Mannies, #1) [Tino & Channing] by Amy Lane

~sigh~ the sweetness! This book was EXACTLY what I wanted it to be. It's the sort of low angst, endearing, comfort read we all need at times. I was so frustrated with myself and my previous read, and frankly I had so much angst lately in my personal life this one was the medicine I needed. I gotta say though, I'm surprised it somehow sneaked up on me! I"m not sure how I just found out about it, but at least I'm updated on the next one to come on July.

Enemies like You by Joanna Chambers & Annika Martin

This is NOT what I expected this book to be. IMO the sexual tension takes WAY too much space and not only that it changed the way I saw the two characters or rather it made me sort of disconnect from them. They are both playing with fire with their attraction towards each other but mostly it feels somehow immature the way their sexual desire makes them act against their projective which means THE WORLD to both of them, each for his own reasons.

Enemies with Benefits - Prologue by Joanna Chambers & Annika Martin

This short novella is the first 8 chapters of "Enemies Like You". I think it's an interesting idea! When downloading it I didn't it's just that - a part of the book itself. But that's exactly what it is. It brings us the first encounter of Will and Kit. It's engaging, it's HOT and it's almost impossible to put down once you start.

Acrobat by Mary Calmes

Though I had another book in mind, I decided to change things up a bit and read another book by Mary. I couldn't leave myself with the feeling of disappointment I had from the last book I've read. Funny enough there are similarities in setting with both having MCs who serve as "muscle" for the mob. Yet the similarities end here. Yet in this one, our sole POV, Nathan Qells, is the kind of guy who doesn't even realize the sweet kid next door he enjoys helping is raised by an uncle who works for the mob. Well, he knows Dreo is raising Michael, but he sees Dreo like no one else could ever see him - harmless (?).

A Day Makes (The Vault, #1) [Ceaton & Brin] by Mary Calmes

Sadly this was quite disappointing.. It started out great, I really like the MC (our sole POV) Ceaton Mercer. We get to know him, how he was discharged from the service and how he built a kind of a family after a mob boss made him his enforcer. Ceaton is the killer with the heart of gold. It's hard to dislike him even if he kills almost "on command". His friends see him for what he is an honorable man and loyal to a fault and they come to care for him. They form a special friendship, him and the three other enforcers even if Ceaton have a deeper connection with their boss Grigor.

Pipe Dreams (Brooklyn Bruisers #3) [Mike & Lauren] by Sarina Bowen

Another great installment in the series. I enjoyed seeing a different Lauren in this one, or rather to see who she really is and also see her lighten up enough to become friends with the other girls. I loved the interaction between her and Nate and was heart broken about her and Mike's past. Mike made a HUGE sacrifice 2 years ago and now he is ready to reclaim his life back with Lauren by his side.

What Matters by Gracie Leigh

I didn't expect any less from Garrett, or in this case Gracie :) I COULDN'T put it down, it was BEAUTIFUL, though naturally HIGHLY emotional - wanted to smack both MCs in the head too many times to count but I still LOVED it to pieces. So it's a girl meets a boy, not Garrett's usual boy meets boy, for me, it made no difference I loved it nevertheless and besides we DO get one scorching HOT scene with another guy so.. yeah..
