What Were You Expecting? (Heart of Montana #6) [Nils & Maggie] by Katy Regnery

No doubt, my absolute favorite of the bunch! and a favorite in general. This book kept me glued to my seat with a constant stomach ache, the best kind to be had ;) First I have to say this book was not what I was expecting! hehe, I mean, we got glimpses of Maggie and Nils longing for one another from near and far and yet since we didn't get their POV up until this one, it was IMPOSSIBLE to guess what's behind the surface. Actually the timing of this book is mostly a little bit before the 4rd installment (Lars & Jane) and only around 3/4 in we are somewhere around the beginning of the 5th one (Paul & Zoe). So though Maggie and Nils behave as "nothing is going on", there is actually SO MUCH going on, it's a wonder no one in this small town and especially their close group realized what was happening beneath their noses.

Meeting Miss Mystic (Heart of Montana #5) [Paul & Zoe] by Katy Regnery

I thought I could do this but apparently I can't... I had the most horrible week EVER. I was stressed out, sad, tired, quite a mess most of the time and so even though I had A LOT of time to read, I couldn't concentrate on ANYTHING really. I sat and done very little so it took me awhile to get into this book. There is something very relevant for this book in my life. As I've been single for a while, and since I also have an account on a dating site I could totally relate to Paul and Zoe's situation. At first I felt a pang of longing for finding someone like Paul, it feels as though most guys don't know what they want and if they do we are not a match for some other reason. But as the story progressed I realized Paul is so very like these guys who look for a fantasy that doesn't really exist, and in the end I found I dislike both Zoe and Paul but moreover, if I was in either of their shoes I wouldn't have wanted the other.

Don't Speak (A Modern Fairytale, #5) [Laire & Erik] by Katy Regnery

The little Mermaid have been a favorite of mine for many years, since the Walt Disney movie came when I was just a dreamy little girl. So it's no wonder I was really excited about the modern version. I didn't know how Katy would pull it off, and since I dislike reading any promotional snippets, and since I don't usually read synopsis of books by authors I love (since I'm going to reading then anyway), I came into this one almost totally "blind". I DID read the synopsis just before I opened the first page but it still gave me no real idea of how BEAUTIFUL this book would be, how fairy-tale like, in a way it was even better made than the previous ones in the series, because in every step of the way I felt inside a (modern) fairy tale.

Paint the Stars (Free Fall #3) [Ezra & Dae] by Christina Lee & Nyrae Dawn

Ezra and Dae story was truly unique, we already knew it has to be from the previous installments. Ezra is an introvert, who and how can anyone break into his inner shell? That's where Dae comes in. It was really sweet seeing them become friends and slowly morph into a couple almost without both realizing they are actually "there", in love and together. Unlike SO many romance stories it was simply refreshing seeing the friendship buildup BEFORE the steam begins.

See Jane Fall (Heart of Montana #4) [Lars & Jane] by Katy Regnery

Though I enjoyed many things about this book, and though I REALLY loved Lars, I had mixed feelings about Jane and at some point I felt the story dragged, I guess it had mostly to do with Jane, her mixed feelings and insecurities. Even though I felt her pain, even though she is VERY relatable on so many levels, it took her TOO long and while she was worried about HER heart being broken she totally missed how much she hurt Lars with the way she guarded herself.

Midsummer Sweetheart (Heart of Montana #3) [Erik & Katrin] by Katy Regnery

Another sweet and endearing story. Like the previous ones there is something very innocent about the writing and the characters. Don't expect any sex scenes, and be prepared for a rather flowery romance between the MCs. I enjoyed that, they both needed each other, and the way their relationship developed (even though it was a bit fast) they both got what they so deserved. Love eluded both of them, for different reasons entirely but here they got the best match for each other. I loved the Scandinavian references, the way they exchanges small sentences in their mother (and father ;)) tongue. We got a little bit of that in the first installment as well.

The Christmas Wish (Heart of Montana #2) [Tess & Lucas] by Katy Regnery

I'm not sure how to rate this one. I liked it but didn't love it. While Tess and Lucas REALLY deserved each other, and deserved happiness and love in their lives, I didn't really connect to either of them.

We've met Tess in the previous installment, she is a waiter at a local diner in Gardiner. Last we've seen of her she was oggeling Sam (the MC in the previous book). It was very cheap and in my opinion SO inappropriate even if everyone calls her "Fast Tess". I mean, acting provocative is one thing, playing suggestive with someone else's date is down right mean. Then in this installment we see a totally different Tess, I wasn't sure which one was "real". The one idoling Jenny from this one, or the one who can hit on Sam while he's in Jenny's company. I think most of my problem with her was how polarized her character was, not only between the two installments but also in the sense she cries over EVERYTHING in a blink of an eye, yet she feels nothing as she lets guys use her and it feels like she's even encouraging them. Even if it's just to prove herself right (that they only want to use her).

By Proxy (Heart of Montana #1) [Jenny & Sam] by Katy Regnery

What a wonderfully sweet story! Though I've read MOST of Katy's work this is the only series left on my list and it's actually the first books she published. It felt different from everything else I've read by her, I"m not sure if it's the setting, the characters or what exactly but there was a sort of innocence and small town wonder I really enjoyed reading. Also, it's been awhile since I read such "low steam" novel and I gotta say, I didn't really feel it was missing. I didn't "need" it to feel Jenny and Sam's feeling for one another and though the romance part was quite short (in time), I could totally see why and mostly how they fell for one another.

Thick & Thin (THIRDS #8) [Dex & Sloane] by Charlie Cochet

What can I say, anything and everything about this series is simply perfection. Even if this time around we only got a short novella of "what's to expect next". Though it was short we DID get not only the romance but the action as well only in a small dose.

I"m not going to say a lot because I don't want to spoiler. I WILL say both Dex and Sloane have a LOT to say to their family and teammates. Dex's "physical situation", Sloane's marriage proposal and of course, their decision to become TIN operatives. All of these things happened near the ending of the previous book but weren't addressed properly with anyone besides themselves. The most important part in this (for the team) is what's going to happen now, will Dex and Sloane leave the team / THIRDS? will they stay together in a different capacity? Let's just say I loved the changes that were made. Especially since the series as it is, is nearing the end (two more books before the spin off). It all just made perfect sense.

February 2017 Reading List

I gotta say, I like this new format, but it's no wonder, I enjoy changes (especially ones I made ;)) January was a VERY busy month for me, with nothing to do with it being the first month of 2017. I also feel I was less "patient" than I usually am because looking on my previous' month rating it was all over the place between annoyed ★ rating to excellent ★★★★★ rating. Last month was also quite a long list with half being short novellas, this month it's the opposite, much less books but each one quite long.

Besides one novel, all the books o my list for this month are by authors I absolutely love and can't wait to delve into. I have 7 (!) books by Katy Regnery, a new book in the A Modern Fairytale and the first series she published - Heart of Montana. With these books I"ll finally finish her whole published work - YAY! A new novel by Christina Lee and Nyrae Dawn in the Free Fall series I"m really excited about and the MUCH anticipated 7th installment in the superb THIRDS series by Charlie Cochet.

Happy Reading!
